I just moved to San Diego from Missouri recently and boy have I learned a lot. Like y’all’s utilities costing triple between 4-9 pm. Apparently no one insulates s*** out here. My dad has an HVAC biz so I’m no dummy with heat and air. My heat would turn off for TEN minutes before kicking back on. That’s how quickly that heat was escaping. My solution: heated blanket and heated kennel pad. I don’t use my heater period. I legit can not afford it.

However, my thermostat is set to 60. It kicked on this morning and I was annoyed. Honestly would rather turn it off totally. I mean surely pipes don’t freeze here but I have pretty bad luck so might as well be safe.

South Georgia here ♀️ During the “winter” i set our heater on 69. I say winter, because at night we’ll use the heat, then I’ll have to turn on the air in the morning But during the warmer months the air stays on 74 during the day & 72 at night!

Ours is pretty consistently on 68-69 year round. We crank the AC if we expect a house full of guests, and we’ll kick the heat up a bit if it’s super cold, but 68-69 keeps us pretty comfortable

I live in LA I don’t have central heat so no thermostat reading here. But I hate being cold so I use plug in heaters and just try and bear it as much as possible but if I can’t . I just use the heat . It does increase my electrical bill but I don’t care . within reason lol

We are in WA and I usually have a fire going but if it dies at night, I turn the thermostat to 60 and it will kick on if it gets too cold. But I usually just make everyone bundle up and use lots of blankets. It’s too expensive to run it ♀️

When I lived in San Jose Cali, the thermostat was set to the far left(60ish)during the year, when it dropped below that temp it would kick on. If we were still cold, we had to pile on the blankets and put on pants and long sleeves.
