We pay $184 a month for gas and electric, in a 2200sq ft house in Michigan. We love the budget plan so that it’s the same every month! Much easier to plan for!

In coastal GA, in the “cooler months” we pay around 127, in the summer it almost doubles to 220-250ish.

You might want to see if your unit needs to be serviced. I have a heat pump that needed servicing and by bill dropped about $75 this month.

Damn! We live in a duplex and electric has been about 150+ for the past 2 months. We only have one heater on and use a plug in one in the bedroom. It help me though that I finally got my deposit back so I paid on it and it added to it. I still have credit for next bill.

My electric usage is higher ($175-250) during warm months I’ve reduced my usage as much as I could. I then enrolled in equal payment plan which is the the average cost of previous 6-12 months. It’s easier to budget this way. For oil I have a SF which pay into every month for winter months

$74 but I live in an apartment and Texas doesn’t get too cold. Is there any way for you to shop around for a different electric company?

Ours would have been $371 (gas and electric) but we had been over charged for a bit so we only had to pay $90. I usually budget about $300 for Jan-March (we live in western NY)

It’s crazy to see so much of a difference in bills. I wish we had a choice in electric where I live. I’m on an average monthly payment and mines around 120 for a 1300 sqft house. 3bed2bath. I try not to turn on my lights as much. I have big windows so I open my curtains up during the day to let natural sunlight in and when we aren’t home I turn off every single light and electronic etc.

$171 a month year round, but we don't have natural gas for anything. Everything is electric. Our house is 2190 sq. ft., plus a basement that is heated and cooled. (Building code requires basements to be heated because of the cold months and preventing pipes from bursting. ) We are on a budget pay program where they take the energy usage of the previous year and divide it by 12. We pay that amount every month this year. That prevents the ups and downs during the extremes of winter and summer.
