Usually the first paycheck of the month goes towards my mortgage, the 2nd, 3rd and 4th go to pay all the other bills, i have them all split up so i'm left with roughly the same amount left over each week. I use the last paycheck of the month for my car payment. Realistically i should be using the last paycheck of the month for the next months mortgage. My BF does live with me and does give me money. He pays me at the beginning of the month. My problem is that because i am paid weekly my check is not enough to cover the entire mortgage so i rely on the money he gives me. I "technically" have until the 15th to pay before i get a late fee, which has never happened. Would you continue to use the 1st paycheck to pay the mortgage or try to get yourself in a position where you are using the months last paycheck to pay the next months mortgage, and if so how would you go about doing that? To specify i have been doing it this way for almost 6 years but now that i am budgeting i am wondering if i am doing it the right way and changing a 6 year habit will not be easy but i am willing to try. And thank you for reading the whole thing i did not intent for this to be a novel. Also there is no chance of us breaking up, we have been together 10 years, have 2 kids and a really solid relationship.
