If you are not using Rover for a side hustle, CHECK IT OUT. In 6 weeks, I have earned over $400 (while turning down 2 high paying jobs down due to unavailability), and have about $300 in jobs already booked for the rest of February. I am in a military community, so that helps, but I highly recommend checking it out. Plus, taking care of kitties and puppies is the best job anyway, right?

I do rover too! I only do kitties and made $800 over Christmas to play with peoples kitties that they left here while they went home for the holidays. Got me out of my apartment while I was off from my day job and all I had to do was play with kitties

Do you have any tips or suggestions on how to market yourself well?

So how does it work? Do you have to care for them in your own home? Or do you go to theirs? I have a cat that would NOT deal well with another animal in the house. However I could totally go to their house. ‍♀️

You can do boarding, day care, sitting in their home, or drop in visits. Drop ins are my favorite.

@constable655 I’ve had a repeat client or two recommend me to others. You can always go to pet friendly events and get the word out that way. Good pictures are a plus.

I make my prices competitive and I think that helps.

I do Rover part time since I do have a full time job. I mostly do house sitting and drop-ins, basically all outside care at the owners home. Last year was my second year and I made around $6900. Plus. I work in a call center for my full time job. its nice getting off and seeing a happy face and of course all the kisses!

Thanks for the info guys! How do you guys settled on a price ? you set it a firm "hourly rate" or the pawparent messages you with an offer?
by (3.1k points)
@canteen rover will”suggest” A price and you can adjust. I’m currently housesitting for four dogs and expected to be here at night and feed them twice a day and I am charging $60 per day.

I actually signed up for this last summer and still have not had a hit and I lowered my rates pretty low. I was hoping I'd recover the fee for background check but still hasnt happened

I’ve thought about it but I’m scared. What if the dog doesn’t like you? They know their senses
