What do you do when you’ve gone way over budget in the beginning of the month? How do you reset for the rest of the month and readjust your budget?

It depends on the category. If it's like groceries - I would try really to shop from what I have at home at limit trips to the grocery store. The great thing about budgeting is you can just reset at any point. Learn from your mistake and make note of it, and try to avoid it happening again :)

You could go to a credit union and talk to them about it. Maybe they have another option.

I've done a new mini budget for the rest of the month to help get myself back on track.

I’m still learning so budgeting for a buffer certainly helps.

I figure out exactly how much is left and divide it by how many days it has to last. Then, I work hard to stay within budget every day. On days you stay under budget, you’ll have a little more to work with the rest of the time.
