For you DIT dip powder ladies, I need HELP! I’ve started doing my dip nails at home myself but I can only get them to last a week, if that! Can you share your tricks you’ve learned along the way to make them last longer? Thanks

I've been dipping for awhile and I can get them to go about a week. This past dip I did on Friday, Sunday that shit was lifting bad. I'm about to march myself to the salon lol

I had the same problem when I first started. I joined some groups on FB and learned a lot as far as application tips and nail preparation to make them last longer. Also, YouTube videos. It’s definitely a learning curve.

Not putting it on too thick and running the gel coat under the tip of the nail helps! This is the 11th day on this one! It takes a while to get it right, keep trying!

It could be the type of nail product you are using? I can get mine to easily last 2 weeks (longer if I wasn't so impatient to change colors) and I use tips as well. I use Kiara sky dip powders and azure Bond and topcoat.

For me, it was making sure I was buffing my nail enough that the powder could get a good bond

You have to prep your nail the same way a salon would, but without all the fancy stuff. You need to buff the shine off your natural nail (apply nail tips if desired and buff shine off as well) Try to not touch your nails after you have prepped. You should keep a powder brush handy to wipe away excess too. And for what ever dip kit you are using (I have only used ASP from Sally due to costs) and I found I needed to change the order they are done than what the instructions tell you. Also filing is your friend! It helps get rid of the giddiness that can happen too. Applying too much of the dip coat around the cuticle can cause it to basically get glue on your cuticle but no dip will stick to it at that point which leads to lifting. For maximum wear, you (me being slow and persice) may need to spend about an hour just on prepping your nails to get them to last. I have manged to get my dip to last about 11-14s this way vs the first few times it lasted about 5 days before they broke off.
