So I’ve had a Target Red card for years, I’ve always paid the balance. Recently, they sent me a notice that my red card is transitioning to a Red card mastercard so I can use it anywhere. I have no issue paying the balance off because I rarely go to Target but my question is, would this show up as a new account on your credit report even though I’ve had the red card for years? Thanks for the help in advance!

I think if they offer It, then no hit on your report. It’s only if you initiate the increase or change.

This happened to me as well and I don’t recall it showing as a new account on my report

I think it will only show as a new account if another creditor purchases Target or any company's card.

Walmart recently changed their credit card from synchrony (store card) to capital one. I've seen it on several credit reports that the old card account was closed as "transferred" and a new one opened. No credit inquiry though. I'm wondering if that is similar. A lot of store cards seem to be doing this lately. My local grocery store card is changing to Citi this month.
