Our lil mans 6bday is May 14. In lieu of a big ole bday party that won’t happen until much later in the summer we are thinking of buying him a tablet. What do you guys have?

We have the Amazon fire kids. It's nice that you can log into the kids profile and they can't accidentally access inappropriate things or buy stuff. It has games, videos and books on it that are all kid oriented and you set your kids age range in the profile to only show stuff appropriate for that age group

@tensimeter75 that’s what I was thinking. My husband said iPad and I’m like uhhhh. I’m not buying a legit $900 computer for my kid to beat up and have access to everything.  my son had my old iPad but it’s obsolete now.

@deficient I second Amazon kids. My 3 and 5 year old have their own with their own profiles. And no more ordering a case of Korean beauty face wipes! ‍♀️ it's all locked !

We have an Amazon Fire but the battery and resolution isn’t great. We don’t use it that often and when I do turn it in the battery is about dead, every time. The touch screen is not as responsive as an iPad. The price is great but I wouldn’t repeat that buy.

One year we bought Amazon Fires. WASTE OF MONEY! Every time we turned around, they couldn't load any more games or what not onto them. The following year I thought iPad. Husband said I was nuts. Settled for Samsung tablet. Basically a giant phone. Worth it! You can go in and child lock/net-nanny it too. This way they can't accidentally Google something they shouldn't be seeing and YouTube kids, so for the most part (there was a time or two a questionable video (in my opinion) got through. Also need a pin/password if they try and buy something in a game, as well as, download something.

ADDING: My kiddo is asking for a Nintendo switch and I’m just not ready to go there. So. I guess searching for alternatives that can be helpful with learning and still fun.

My twins are almost 4 and they were gifted then when they turned 1. They just began using them this year and they find all sorts of apps, videos and books on their own! You can set the age setting for the free time! Good luck!

I hate everything Apple. But our iPad! Apple iPad definitely is the best, hands down. We've had ours for 9 years. Still works perfect and my kids have been using it for 7 years now

I appreciate everyone weighing in. We usually do a big party and have ppl do gift cards/experiences vs toys and crap that will fill our home. Given the circumstances thinking we can spend the money on a big gift and make up for not having a party till much much later. ❤️❤️‍♀️

We just got our 6 year old an iPad. She’s had an older one of ours since she was 2, so we felt confident she could handle a new one.

My son has the Amazon Fire 10 tablet. It's widescreen and it works great for him. I bought it on Amazon Prime day, but even without that it's much more reasonable than iPad.
