I'm considering taking my 5-yr-old out of daycare for the summer before he starts KG and putting him in DP summer camp. Does this sound like a good idea? We will save $120/wk but I'm worried about the sudden change for him and then the big change to KG life. Thoughts?

My kids have loved DP park district summer camp. I’d expect it could be a fun and exciting change from daycare and saving money is just a bonus.

I've been thinking the same thing mainly because everything & everyone will be new to her. Was also thinking (if possible) maybe taking her out mid-summer.

All depends how they handle change / transitions. I had the same thought but my guy needs a little more hand holding with transitions so I plan to keep him in daycare thru the summer to keep consistency until he starts K in the fall. that’s just my kid though! I would kill to save some cash over the summer ☺️

I agree with this. How well your kiddo would handle two transitions I think would be the biggest factor.

We did just this last summer. Our little guy was in daycare from 5mos. It was significantly cheaper to make the transition and his circle of friends did expand. It was a good choice for us. Good luck!

Camp sunshine is awesome! My 6yr old has been there the past 2 summers and he loves it!
