I read a lot of contradictions about this, but if you assume that your ad won't make 50 purchase conversions in a week, is it better to begin with optimizing for add to cart?

Indeed @frohne, which I did! But after watching the previously mentioned Facebook course I started to doubt again, because Ezra is a very good FB marketer

To find winners in new products I start with €5 - €10 per day per product (23 products in total) + retaregeting + loyalty campaigns. So chances are very low I reach 50 PUR conversions in a week for a single product.
