Am I the only one who tests 10s of different campaigns to finally hit one successful campaign out of 100? I'm profitable, but having to do 100 tests for a single product seems like a lot.

@flanigan one day he is the king advertiser who knows everything, next day he comes with the dumbest question possible. I have nothing against him, but he needs to tone it down a bit.

Something seems seriously flawed in your strategy. Don't just launch stuff for the sake of launching it. Study the psychology of your audience before spending money on ads.
by (340 points)
How would you suggest to study the psychology? I know these are impulse buyers who love this product since it resonates with their passion.

@brost Seems like it resonates only with 1 audience out of 100 though. You have to understand their needs, passions, objections and based on that you can come up with a complete strategy that leads them from the click to pulling the trigger on the product. Somewere along the way to the checkout there seem to be hurdles, at least with many of these audiences you tested. I have no idea what your product is, what your ad says etc. but I can tell you that whenever I launch a product I don't need to test that many audiences for it to work out. Actually I rarely test new products, because I usually know that an audience will need the product I will launch, often because I select products based on own experience and being part of that audience myself.

It resonated with every single ad set I has in my CBO though. That's what's weird. I tested these audiences for 6 months before and got pretty much nothing. One day they just magically work all of the sudden. This isn't a seasonal product or anything. My on-site conversion rate is 3-4%. My issue has always been with CTRs and CPCs. Could be that my creative is bad?

@brost I'm a bit confused to be honest. You tested the same product for 6 months without success and after 6 months you saw some results and now you think the product will work because of these temporary results? It could be that your creative is bad, yes or maybe the product is not a winner as you would like it to be.

I tested that product for 6 months and eventually struck a golden campaign that did $20, 000 in profit.
by (340 points)
I tested other products too, but I kept coming back to that one.
by (410 points)
@brost $20k in profit over what time? My impression is that you fell in love with the product and struggle to let go. We've all been there.
by (340 points)
In around 4 months.
by (410 points)
@brost It's not that much spread over 4 months. If could have been for many reasons. My 5 cents are: Study more old winners of other people and understand the psychology of why they worked out and then test again based on your learnings. Almost every product I launch is at least profitable if not highly profitable as I said before. Think about what you struggle with in your own life, or what you are interested in. Then look for a good product in that space and use your own experience to resonate with the audience you are part of yourself. You will see way better results than just launching random stuff or falling in love with something because it has given you a bit of profit in the past.

If you understand consumer psychology you can even sell stones (look up the pet stone for example). Good luck

@brost so you’d suggest it worth spending 6 on it to find the right audience? How much did it cost you?

Are you following Gabriel's strategy?
by (340 points)
I'm pretty sure his strategy is to launch a lot of tests. He just doesn't show that part in the videos.
by (190 points)
@brost right but testing narrows as you gather data. Are you at super Lookalike level?
by (340 points)
I have a 2000 purchase LAA, but it doesn't perform any better than my CBO.

It's also possible that my creative needs refreshing.

@brost yea testing lowers CPM as I understand
by (340 points)

@brost net profit is what counts

@brost we are not trying to demotivate you but sometimes you are a little bit of a smartass. 67k is not enough to tell if it works or not, as @popp86409 said only profit counts.

Change your ads and make them more compelling. Improve your website and everything that can increase your conversion or AOI. If the results are the same, change your product ! Audiences are not everything.
