Hi all!  I’m looking for ideas for my concrete floor in my garden.Hi all! I’m looking for ideas for my concrete floor in my garden. It’s an eyesore and it’s all cracked and uneven, with two small kids there are constantly accidents, twisted ankles, tripping over it ect. I need something to put over it that’ll look half decent and be safer. obviously ON A BUDGET. I got a quote from a few decking companies for £1, 200+ because it’s uneven and will need resurfacing (I’ve been told that’s b*****x though! ) how hard will it be to pave over it? Or any other suggestions would be fab! Thank you in advance

For a start the concrete needs lifted. All dug out hardcore put down, then cement and paving. I wouldn't deck it that get really Slippy. Could Gravel it but I would remove the concrete anyway before doing that best to do it right than do it twice

For paving you need 4 inches of compacted type 1 and a mortar bed of 2 inches then your paving Ontop.

@clevis No can't pave over the top needs lifted with a pick axe, pinch bar and sledge hammer all work best. Paving needs a solid foundation of sub base to keep it stable and last a lifetime

@clevis quick fix would be Gravel but won't last long and could cause issues. Best to do it right the first time. Doing it twice costs way more than double all the time

@clevis Not much can be done then apart from skim coating the top with conctrete to level it out

I have the exact same problem. Had it now for 5 years and it’s a huge garden that we just never get to use  It is so uneven, cracked and dangerous but it’s difficult to get such a large amount of money together when raising a family and a garden is a bit of a luxury! I totally feel your frustration
