Currently doing my garden, I’ve painted the fence a very dark brown, I’m putting natural oil on the decking, can anyone help me decide on what I can do with the horrible red brick wall? Has anyone painted their wall and how did the paint hold up? Thanks

Get some low maintenance evergreen shrubs either in pots or planted in front of the wall to break it up a bit @henryk .

@selfdrive1 we are shit with plants so you’ll have to tell me what to buy x

@henryk No problem. I’ve a few books will help you pick the right plant for what you need and what you fancy. most evergreen shrubs are relatively cheep and take no looking after. I can pop a couple on your doorstep over the weekend for you to have a look at

What I would like to know, what did you use to place the wood down over the bricks?
by (430 points)
@cuddle it hasn’t been done yet, that the job for the weekend, it’s going to be screwed but only where the wall is uneven as majority of it sits flush x

@henryk looks great. We're thinking the same but realised what we could use to secure the wood?

Leave the brick, as you will in time cause trouble for yourself trying to keep it looking nice, just my opinion on what I have read when others had painted the bricks.

Clad the bricks? That's what we're doing with our decking.

I like the wall you should leave it. Get loads of pots of trailing plants to drape down, would look lovely ☺️

I think the red brick goes well with the fence.

No problem with the bricks. If you want to distract the eye, put some pots on the wall? Your watering can needs to have plastic crystals coming out the spout - will look like
