Partner did our front garden and built a planter last week. Having never planted flowers before can anyone offer any advice and the perfect flowers to brighten up and easy to look after? Our local garden centre is delivering but not sure what to choose that is ideal for a planter. We get alot of sun at the front Thank you!

Lovely planters. If I was you I would go for cheap and cheerful bedding plants, bergonias, bizzie Lizzie, marigolds, love in a, mist, cosmos, wall flowers. I would also buy some herbs to grow for cooking with

Ask your garden centre what they advise? Let them know how much sun. They are usually more than willing to help. Have a think if you want instant colour to replace each season or longer term lower maintenance. Enjoy x

I would fill it with red geraniums from Aldi. Cheap and mine lasted over winter by leaving them up against my back wall. Very hardy and full of colour.

Treated sawn timber, frames were treated with creosote to preserve it even longer, cladding was finished in nut brown stain. Think it was 50mm x 22mm, may use the same to clad over fences in the back garden

We moved into our forever home last week and weathered 2 storms (cross fingers without too much damage!) The garden is large, beautiful and has 5 tpo pine trees and lots of rhododendrons but it currently looks like a scene from Glastonbury - completely waterlogged (as it’s a clay base).

A few little tips - 1) when doing hanging baskets and wall planters - put a disposable nappy (or 2 depending on size of planter) plastic side down in the bottom of the basket or planter.
