My garden has been like a jungle since I moved in so yesterday I decided to start tackling all the brambles at the back of my garden and discovered I have decking to enjoy  What's the best way to clean it properly? And best paint to freshen it up a little?

I saw someone recommending to apply wood treatment or paint with a clean broom. Paint in paint roller tray. Took a fraction of the time and effort!

What a great find. Brush it with soapy water I guess or pressure wash if you have one. Check planks still good and not rotting.

I'd be inclined to go over it with fresh decking or pallet slats at the least to reinforce it, perpendicular to the existing boards. You don't want to see what going through rotten decking can do to a leg :-D Then paint/stain as you wish.

@baucom my luck would be my leg going through it  I'll see if I can get my hands on some bored

Better safer than sorry, I've seen calves literally peeled off on medical websites because someone went through decking or similar, old and rotting just makes the wound worse haha!

I kinda like my legs as they and I already spend enough time with doctors these days

Wow! Well done. I'd probably inspect it all over for any damage. Do any repairs and then paint.

Give it a scrub with a broom and soapy water then varnish it, also with a broom, quicker than using a paint brush
