Think I've used every god dam thing on my decking including fence paint it either flakes off or scratches

Fence paint is for fences, it's an acrylic resin full of wax to resist the water. You'll probably have an ice rink when it polish's up soon. Very slippy

It will wear very fast. We used Cuprinol decking stain. Fantastic result and lasts.
by (520 points)
@fairish I've used that to I have a very large area so costs me bout £140 quid not paying that any more
by (540 points)
@constabulary it’s worth it. The results are great and will last a lot longer.
by (580 points)
@fairish mine was Culprinol. Spent £28 per tub. Lasted 2 weeks before peeling
by (540 points)
@carlton43695 was it for decking? I jet wash and sand my decking, then use it. Never had a problem
by (580 points)
@fairish yeah it was their dark Hampshire one. I don’t understand what went wrong with it as everyone has recommended it.

Al give it 1-2weeks and it will be peeling. Paint Dragged through your house from the paint On your shoes and the deck left a total mess. Pay cheap pay twice.

Ronsil decking oil is the safest option.

At least it's been laid the right way round, I've seen so many laid the wrong way.

2x coats of £4 fence paint plus time and effort = fortnight tops especially with poor weather, we live amd learn, learned the hard way

Screwfix decking oil
by (520 points)
@lunn366 Good?
by (1.2k points)
@constabulary so far so good. £9. 99 a tin, coverage and quality was excellent. My 30 quid tin of ronseal lasted less than 6 months last year. Reviews go to show than Screwfix lasts really well so let's give him a go
by (520 points)
@lunn366 1 tin does 27sq m so it's only 20 to do mine I have a large area better that 140 quid

Decking paint has grit in it to make it non-slip. Fence paint doesn’t.

@mchenry851 no big deal just add a bit of sand

It won't last on the decking I've seen it a number of times don't know why I'm told it won't take people walking on it.
