Japanese knot weed.  I have it at the back of my garden and when I moved in I was told it would take up to two years to be treated and gone, but today I have been told they will only treat it once a year and its marked down as 2028 for the last lot of treatment if there's still any signs of it  can anyone tell me if this is right or if the council have to do it more often to get rid of it quicker?Japanese knot weed. It is fenced off but I've lost 3/4 of my garden and by the sounds of it not just for two years.

A neighbour had it and it was affecting him buying the house off the landlord (I think). He spent a few years with his dad digging up up every year and burning it. They are now clear but it was a lot of digging and sifting should to get roots

I had this problem when I lived in a council house instead of sorting it out they just fenced the whole lot of so I ripped the fence out dug all the knotweed up and sent them the bill they soon got of there backsides to sort it out you are meant to spray it every couple of month and it can take several years to get rid of and I’d get your neighbors to complain about it aswell as it spreads and can damage your property

Luckily it's the other end of the garden so it won't affect the houses we'll not yet but I also said in that amount of time it's likely to grow closer

Isn't Japanese knotwood notifiable ? I think it has to be reported to the environmental people.

Japanese knot weed will create devastation with your foundations. It eats through concrete. Mortgage lenders will not lend if you have that.! Good luck in removing it. X

We had this years ago so not sure on new rules for it. We moved in to find it that year. We constantly kept pulling it up the problem is the smallest amount you leave it re shoots. Neighbours were the same only they didn't bother. Eventually we got it under control and placed old lino over it. After 2 years it was only on neighbours. We then put a fence up. Sinking a concrete board fully under ground.
