We're in the process of moving and I know it sounds a bit petty but I've managed to dig up some plants in the garden that I'd like to take with me. One of them was an olive tree I'd purchased when it was tiny and it'd grown to 8/9 foot tall in the 5 years we've been here. It took me just about 2 hours to dig it up and repot it but it obviously looks stressed and sad at the moment. Most people said that as olive trees are quite hardy it should be fine but has anyone any experience moving theirs? I've repotted it in wet soil and watered it thoroughly after but it still looks sad. Will this take a few days to settle in do you think? Worried I might have killed it

Don’t take this the wrong way  but do you own your house ? You can’t take the plants unless previously agreed with new owners. I’m with you ! My plants are like part of my family

I did this once when we moved and had no luck. But I have heard people who did this and it worked. Just didn’t for me. I gave up in the end and bought new ones.

@eyeless0 is correct. Anything planted in the ground is deemed a permanent fixture & unless you informed the buyers you were removing it they can actually demand it back. I know it's heart breaking. I have an Olive Tree in my garden which I planted as a very smal plant & 8 years on it's about 10 feet high. Hopefully upur buyers will be OK about it.

Is he still to be planted in your new garden? Is the pot temporary? I watched monty don help a woman move multiple roses and every time he moved it he covered it in root powder

It’ll take more than a few days, it probably won’t be happy for most of the summer, keep it well watered . Good luck
