I bought a couple of camellias and a patio rose today and put them in bigger pots. do I need to drill drainage holes in the pots? I’ve just filled it with the recommended compost and watered  the white one had holes in already which I covered in cardboard so the soil doesn’t fall out when I move them?

Yes all pots need drainage and it's a good idea to put stones in the bottom of pots.

@tellurium ah! I’ll have to take them out and try again. Thanks for the tip. Why don’t they just sell them with holes?!
