I want a apple or fruit tree, but my garden is tiny and we rent. I’ve heard you can pot them but I was just wandering if anyone has done this and what type you get?

I’ve got a dwarf apple tree in a pot (big one though) and I’ve had small sweet apples from it. Gotta get to them before the squirrels though

@inch8 do you know what type it is?
by (700 points)
@billybillycock unfortunately not. I’ve had it a few years but bought at a garden centre.

I have a small one in a pot. Can't remember what it's called but there are 2 different apples on it so I only need one as it self pollinates. Just bought it from the local garden centre last year as a 4th anniversary present to my husband (year of fruit or flowers). We got loads of apples off it.

I potted a dwarf apple onto 2 tyres stacked on top of each other to create a bigger pot, it did really well but this year I have put it in the ground (my garden is also tiny and we also rent) I'm hoping it will help with some of the drainage

You can grow fruit trees in pots but you need very big pots, as the trees top will only grow as big as the pot. I have a cherry tree in a large half barrel pot and got some lovely cherries last year xx

Has this rose had it? Last tenants left it swimming in a pot with not holes?
by (650 points)
@billybillycock Roses grow in just about anything. I’d cut that back a bit and leave it till summer.

Has this rose had it? They’ve left it in a pit without holes and it’s been swimming! I’ve a kiwi plant I was going to put there if so. Or maybe order this kiwi berry plant.

@billybillycock take it out of the pot and put it in one with drainage holes. Stand it on a brick and let it drain. It should be ok.

Tesco have them for about a fiver and Aldi do them long with other places for the same price. Buy one and pop it in the garden. Keep it pruned and if you move either dont worry for a fiver or try digging it up to take with you.

Look in B&M. They have fruit trees (Apple, pear, plum and Cherry), for £5 each. From memory they are all self pollinating so you'll only need one tree to get fruit.
