No I always start mine off in a pot with compost for the first month then when they are about three inches high I plant them in the garden I buy most of mine from Wilko have for the last 25 years there stock is fantastic got mine for this year three tubers for £3 in the multi packs

@blanketing they come like in a bunch of little bananas I pot each bunch in a pot first to bring them through you can see where the lead stork is

You should be able to see a stork that’s been cut I face that upwards
