I used to buy a few rolls of bin liners and put them down Dont leave any spaces or the weeds will come through

Then you'll end up with a gooey/waterlogged mess or even flooding - water can't drain through

U need to put down permiable membrane as water needs to seep through so you dont get flooded but weeds need to not get through
