Yeah it is, you can either store them in a cool dark cupboard until they sprout then plant them or cut off the sprouted bits and plant those. mine are currently on the window sill waiting on my potato bags to arrive

@jabberwocky559 so you don’t need to keep them whole? You can just plant the sprouted parts?

@secundas19 usually I just use a thick garden waste bag or an empty dog food bag but because my son is helping I’ve bought potato bags with a flap at the front where you can open it and see if the potatoes have grown. I’m probably making no sense  it’s just cause I don’t have room to put the potatoes straight in the ground so do it in bags. Here’s a website for you to look at.

Should see my compost heap, always got tatties growing from peel. Just chop them up, leave them to sprut and cover with soil. Can't go wrong.

I do it when I've been a shit housewife and let my potatoes sprout in the cupboard! It always works, I'm not a very good gardener either though so I'm not expecting bumper harvests. You'll definitely get a good few.

@whiffle not a bad, housewife just a busy one I'm guessing

@horacehoracio that's the one  I always feel so guilty when I see them sprouting. I bury them in the garden to hide the evidence!

Yes, just leave them to sprout a bit first. I use potato bags, a few inches of soil in the bottom then the spuds, cover with a couple of inches of compost, once they start growing, keep topping up the compost - just leave about 3" above the compost each time.
