We’ve just covered up a concrete retaining wall that wasn’t possible to remove but the question is how do i fill it on a reasonable budget? If I was to staple membrane across the gap between original walls will it hold for a good length of time? I have access to topsoil, compost and a mountain horse manure! What would everyone recommend? I’d say it’s probably around a foot deep if we were to start from and bury original filling.

I'd be more worried about putting alot of soil against that fence. It will go rotten fast. You could put plastic planter tubs in the gap so stuff grows up above the Timber

@sero1644 even with plastic membrane?

It would definitely help but I think over time the feather edge boards will start to curl under the weight. It's not something I'd personally want to do.

@sero1644 shall a go down a plank and make it lower so less pressure? Will it be deep enough to have as beds tho?

What's under the peagravel behind the old concrete gravel board wall? If you can go down a plank and maybe get some extra soil to replace the gravel I think that would be plenty of depth.

You could lay the extra decking boards flat to make a ledge. That would hide your upright posts and your membrane too

@sero1644 okay cool! It’s mostly soil as is holding up next doors garden which is higher than ours but as a fairly new house we’ve discovered builders or whoever have buried random things in here very peculiar!
