whoever told you that was an idiot. Please Google "salting the earth" to see why. And try not to give 2nd hand advice unless you've checked its validity, otherwise your going to be responsible for wrecking people's gardens & it costs thousands to remove it & replace with untainted soil.

Anything that kills plants is not "environmentally friendly" some commercial ones break down in a couple of days, but why not just weed out the weeds?

Burners work, but folk tend to not burn enough, it's the roots you need to kill, or remove, just burning the top off is usually not enough, you need to really cook it. Digging is a pain but is the best way to shift weeds.

Salt and hot water do work I have used it. But wouldnt do it if its due to rain as it will just wash it away.

please Google "salting the earth" it builds up in the soil & stays around for years, costs thousands to replace tainted garden soil & replace with fresh. Try advising people to go to the pound shop & buy a proper weedkiller. It may not have noticeably have damaged your soil yet, but it will, but you'll think it's disease or something & be on here asking for advice. Save yourself some time & stop now. If you want to carry on then fine, it's your garden, but please don't pass on terrible advice that'll damage other people's hard work.

Weed by hand. Chemicals are bad for the environment.

NO SALT! FFS every time some idiot suggests SALT it'll ruin your garden. Just Google "salting the earth" it used to be used to devastate enemies by making the land unusable for decades or more.

Remove unwanted weeds by hand or garden tools. Salt can be used safely between concrete slabs and similar.
