Last weekend we found something growing in a bag of old soil we've had in the shed since last winter. When I found it growing, I potted it and its growing but I have no clue what it is! Does anyone have any ideas please? Update: Everyone's saying Hosta. You know you're probably all quite right. I had a hosta last year that died off. I didn't know what to do with it as I was told the snails love them, so I thought I chucked it, but maybe it ended up in the bag of dirt! What's the best thing to do with a hosta, or best place to plant? I might give it another go!

Hosta needs a big pot and the slugs love them and like to be kept damp

Definitely a Hosta ( like mine pictured here on the small patio behind the sundial) ). Slugs love them so I suggest you put a copper band around the pot like I’ve done as they can’t touch them then, as long as you don’t let the leaves touch anything else.

Hosta, slug and snails attack and eat the leaves, I used to put egg shells round it to stop them best I could, they do flower as well
