Does anyone use the Hotbin compost bins? Mine is going great, and it produces compost fast. It has now become home to hundreds of worms too!

Top end temperature for worms is 30 Degrees so they won't be happy in there.

If you don't want creatures, try mixing petroleum jelly with sharp sand and 'painting ' it under the rim of the biin - or twist or wrinkle a length of cooking foil into a rope that you can fix beneath the mouth of the bin as a barrier.

@tala9398 they're doing vermicomposting? The point is to get the worm castings. that would kill them
by (210 points)
This lady does education about it. You can break down a ton of compost with worms a lot faster

@calve23 I've caused confusion. I am very much pro-worms- to the point of two well occupied compost bins. I meant no offense- simply intended to put forward the possibility of not having them where they're not wanted as an alternative to chemical treatments. Oops!
by (210 points)
@tala9398 ohhh okay lol inside i was just nooo not the wormmys!
by (210 points)
They're good lil ones who just eat trash

It's the redworms that are making the composting happen, well. they play a big part.

Excuse me because my limited education of composting is an episode of Peppa Pig. But in that grandpa pig (yes this is my life now. ) said that it was the worms that help make the compost? Is this right?  I don't really get it to be honest!
by (780 points)
@aleksandr1 yer they do. Pepper pig has taught you a lot. See this is why adults need to watch more cartoons.! lol. Worms are vital to a good compost heap. The more you have the better the compost. Lol you can buy a worn bin where you add food scraps and the worms eat away at it then it produces a good fertilising liquid that falls to the bottom of the bucket with a little tap and you use it as a liquid feed
