Should we put the moss we scrawp out of the lawn, into the compost? Or will it cause problems later when the compost is being used on the flower beds? What do people advise?

Compost it, anything that lived can go in (animal stuff will attract rats though)

Your compost is a completely new entity and the only real problems with home compost is weed seeds and fungus like black spot. Your moss won't be moss.

Any moss that finds itself in my garden is popped into a plant pot and used as a living mulch that shows really quickly if the pot is drying out  not that they do with the Moss mulch keeping all the moisture in

If you're worried about spreading it. Leave it bagged up for a few weeks to ensure its dead then compost

It's funny fine, it'll rot down like anything else as long as there's no light.
