My poor fuchsia keeps trying to get new shoots and then they die. I think it’s because it full of roots? Just need to know if it can go in the ground? I’ve always used pots for fuchsia’s so have no idea? Thanks x

Check that you don’t have vine weevil in the pot (white little maggots) they love pots and things like fuchsia’s.
by (1.3k points)
@cassity I’ll check tomorrow thank you x
by (910 points)
@scorcher no worries, the growing and then stopping is very likely to be the weevil, but you can get stuff to kill them, my dad takes the plants out and then washed the roots and then puts new soil in or goes through the compost picking them all out!
by (260 points)
@cassity I've had a struggle with them. I repost my hostas every year because of these. I found some in 1 of my pots, which isn't bad, cos normally they can get everywhere ! I have ordered the stuff, so these should be gone soon

When you go to repot the plant, you will know if you have them as the plant will have hardly any roots and will die when it starts to grow. If you see them and that plant isnt worth saving, throw everything away. The soil and plant. Dont try to salvage anything. Cos when they get into the garden your other plants are at risk x

This has happened to all my mil's ones. In our area it's because of slight overnight frosts. Try covering it of a night to make sure the frost doesn't get it. Give it a feed. Make sure you dont water it for a bit, and that it gets the heat of the sun. It will come back fine in the next couple of weeks x

Two of ours are the same this year. And they're in flower beds! The two in the front garden are doing absolutely fine so no idea what's up with them! Like you say, they keep growing new bits then dieing off
