Depends on the cause of it dying. Mine kept dying as it was being eaten by leather jackets. I put a nematode killer on twice last year and about to do the same again this year. Its definitely better. Just chucking seed on will do nothing if you dont treat the cause x

What’s your soil like ? You might need top soil first . I brought grass seed from Aldi £3. 99 box for 10m2 coverage , only sow it today tho so no idea if it’s good .

These things help ground prep far as I know . Well rotted manure . make your own compost but only raw veg not cooked . Plant Potatoes they help break up the soil too .

You need to fork it over I would say and remove debris . Also easier to fork it over if it’s light rain or has rained already or get hose on it . Once it’s done right it won’t need doing again . If your seeding again water before seeds in and after sown and water if it don’t rain

It needs digging over and a mix of sand and compost, topsoil then needs raking flat sow seed then you need top soil sieving on the top paddle down and use a fine sprinkler to water everyday after the sun has gone from it don't walk on it at all until the grass is up and established but you must keep watering it even when its up
