Campaign Structure Question: I have 2 main job types I'm promoting: - New Windows - New Doors Within those main categories there are about 12 window sub categories (e. g. Bow windows, Sliding Sash windows etc) and about 10 door sub categories (uPVC doors, Sliding Patio doors erc) that we sell. This is a new business, so I want to send an even amount of traffic to each sub category so I can see how the different landing pages convert, so this is what I'm wondering. Is it better to use those sub categories as the main campaigns, but set a low daily budget e. g £10-15/day (I have to set a relatively low daily budget because it'd just be too expensive otherwise) Or is it better to make the sub categories the ad groups, and set a higher budget at the campaign level, having just 2 main campaigns at around £200-300/day. Will it make any difference? I don't want Google deciding where to allocate all the money, in case they put all the budget into one job type and another doesn't get represented properly. I'm just a bit worried that if they were 25 individual campaigns, it's a very low daily budget and Google may not position them well and they'd end up getting no clicks. However, I'm equally aware that some sub categories have a much higher search volume, but aren't as profitable for our business as other sub categories which have a much lower search volume. so if they were all in one campaign Google will probably allocate the adspend to the higher searched job type. Any thoughts would be good to hear. Thanks

What I might suggest is that you create different account if you want a full control of your budget per category. Better use SKAGS because from there you can generate new keywords but please make sure you stick to have a seperate landing per category/campaigns to ensure that you will have a better quality score. Yes it is feasible to run ads and get traffics even if you have a low budget campaign.

@espy9581 Thanks, what's the reasoning behind a whole new account for each category. would a new campaign not allow for control over the budget per category?

@stilt sorry I must put campaign there. But it really depends on your strategy. Is this for longer term type of account or you are just doing A&B testing?

It depends on the CPC's in your country and search potential. Guessing from pounds sterling you're from the UK so CPC's aren't very low therefore I'd suggest starting with 2 campaigns and subcategories as ad groups. Then you'll see if any specific subcategory will spend a larger chunk of your budget or show a better conversion rate and you'll split it out, segment it further to see which parts are the most conversion orientated and so on. Sidepoint: you can also create duplicate campaigns to target competitor search phrases. Pro tip: Don't have these search terms in the same campaign as generic search phrases as it will obliterate your daily budget.

You can create separate campaigns for each, and then use Shared Budgets. This will allow you maximum control as you can remove the shared budget from specific campaigns later if needed but might also require more management and work. If you can group some of the subcategories together like those with similar profit margins/cpa targets, then you can merge those into one campaign.
