Do you take multiple local business clients serving the same area? For example 2 plumbers? If so what precautions do you take to ensure that they aren’t increasing each other’s CPC?

That might be possible sometimes. cuz both have individual buisnesses and running ads but yes if you are managing the ads then be specific with narrow targeting. let suppose if i want to target 1 business i will target east new jersey and for other west new jersey and then interchange them so that they can never override each other. and through this i will be able to target complete location for both of them

I don't do that, it will provoque ethical issues and it makes no sense to play on 2 teams. I prefer to work my ass off for just one client.

If you were paying someone to run ads for you. would you then also want them in charge using the same keywords for one of your competitors?

I set a radius up to where i limit getting another competitor from a client. So in my case I target a niche cover all of my territory then move on to another niche

No problem. Unlikely you have a client that can afford clicks 24/7. Not all plumbers focus on the same products.

Sorry bud but it is absolutely a problem . that makes no sense you would literally be marketing against yourself and driving your own CPC up. Even if it is a different "product" its still in the same niche and category

90% of my clients are under $1200 a month in spend and with an average click cost of $12 the budgets are used up by noon in most cases. This is why its not an issue for me.

Could use manual cpc, with enhanced cpc turned off, and just coordinate their bids so they aren't jacking up each others costs excessively

Does it really matter though?. 1) Is Plumber A going to pay you enough to be his exclusive marketing agency? 2) If Plumber B doesn't go with you, isn't he just going to go with another agency, who will also run ads and "jack up" the CPC?

could take the argument further and say that if you manage marketing for both Plumber A and B (assuming they aren't sworn enemies) that you'd be able to optimize ad campaigns towards services they execute best and not just competing for Clicks and CPC which likely isn't aligned with the overall business goals of plumber A and/or B. But really. how often does this actually happen?

Technically they are both better off in your hands than competing with no holds barred against each other. If you manage both you may be able to find separate angles for both and still absorb all the budget on high outcome marketing.
