New to Google Ads.  Just got a job which includes marketing for a jewelry company.New to Google Ads. Just got a job which includes marketing for a jewelry company. Someone else has done Google Ads for them before. The conversion rate for all ads are 0. What should I check to see what I can do to improve? Far as I can see, they have used good keywords. I have had no sales on the website all year.

If you think they were using good keywords, look at the website. How is the user experience when shopping?

What does Google Analytics tell you about: behaviour flow, audience, bounce rate, etc.

I think people dont look for jewelry, they see it and get enthousiastic (when talking B2C). I dont market any jewelry companies but id rather try something visual like youtube ads. If you do think search, then look at your organic keywords from search console to get some inspiration.

With jewelry niche, try social media. Even influencer paid post campaign. I was able to help a client earn $5k overnight (from $350 influencer's fee) for an accessory that way. But again, it could be a hit and miss. Don't stop testing.

I would probably also guess that they could have just not set up a conversion. So they weren’t properly tracking sales etc

@landside agree. Check their conversion goals (verify them) and tracking code

There is some stuff you need to consider. For me I work also for Jewelry brand, Well known one, We don't sell online but I can Help you Because worked with others before. Simple you need to consider some analytical stuff first. Such as the "Bounce rate, Session duration"? 2nd you need to check user experience. have you tried doing demo Purchase to check if everything works properly or not? 3-Conversion code is well installed? 4th Have you tried social media? 5th tried Social media store? 6th, Have you done competitors checklist? "Prices, Ads, Marketing strategy, Marketing targeted, Etc. " 7-PLease check your keywords and the old campaigns and analyze them, Might be something changed recently caused that poor performance.

Google Ads is for people that are doing their research. You can't catch them unexpectedly like in social media. They are comparing items, looking for the best price and also for general website experience. So do not force Google Ads if you did not improve your website (conversion tracking, rich visuals and descriptions, pixels, easy navigation, testimonials, loading speed and etc). Otherwise, you will burn your budget. Take a look at your website conversion rate. It is really hard to outperform these numbers with totally new users from search.

Imo if you are new to google ads you are not qualified to run their ad campaign on the google ads platform. Stick to other forms of marketing that your experienced with. You must have some experience in marketing if you got the job. Use channels you have data on. If you absolutely have to use GAds then become google ads certified directly from google first and then take at least one other class after that from udemy that includes tactics for keyword research. If you just start screwing around you are going to loose the company a lot of money, time, and your job exactly like your predecessor.

@suppurative “not qualified to run with no experience”? Everyone starts somewhere, a few YouTube videos learning the basics, analyzing a current campaign with data and making adjustments to an active campaign is perfect IMHO to learn Google Ads.

As long as they’re visiting the store and buying you’re doing fine. Track store visits, for sure. Are you running a shopping campaign?

Jewellery is a personal experience. They might be checking styles and prices online but they are definitely going instore to make the purchase. Can you track instore sales by having an exclusive coupon as a pop up on the website or a gift card sale from the website?

Watch a few Google Ad videos, learn the interface and start looking at the campaign and it’s data. Analyzing a GA campaign with data isn’t hard. Don’t steer away from managing the campaign if you have no experience. It isn’t rocket science. Start by making small optimization changes and go from there.

I seriously doubt conversions were tracked properly. If they were, then I would check out the landing page. What are they trying to do exactly? Drive foot traffic to a local brick & mortar store or sell jewelry online? What kind of credibility signals are they showing. There are so many questions - no true consultant can say what is right or wrong with a campaign without understanding the holistic view.
