Seems like some people in my business is pausing their ads now for corona. Should I go down in max cpc (manual), or just let google handle it through the lower bidding competition?

Don't let Google decide what to do with your money.

Google will take your money doesn't matter what. Why do you think lowering CPC will fix the issue? If you want to avoid paying, just stop it.

That should be irrelevant. What should be relevant is what the impact is on your business by making these decisions.

@merrimerriam5503 well, I am thinking that if many advertisers disappear, the rest of us can try to pay less without ending up too low on the page.?

@eden8550 And I'm saying that's irrelevant. You're basing your decisions on the wrong factors. Focus on ROI, not position or lowest possible CPCs

In this situation, I don’t reduce the max CPC for each keyword instead reduce the overall campaign bidding percentage by 30%. It has worked for me. You can lower by 40-50% if you think that work.
