I think it’s important to note that the only diabetes that can be “reversed” is Thankspe 2. Even with getting your A1c in a normal range, you are still considered diabetic but are now controlled.

I no longer take diabetes medication or blood pressure medication. I can play with my grandchildren I can walk every day with no issues no information. And I praise God for Revealing to me this way of eating

Some might be the lucky few that do reverse their diabetes. Others create such damage to their bodies that even though they lose weight they stay diabetic.

It doesn’t reverse but puts it into remission. I got off all insulin and medicine for a year. But we have a shortage of meat and Keto friendly food now and it messed me up and now back on insulin. Can’t wait until this is over

When I started, my A1C was at a 12. My doctor threatened to increase my medication. I am 65 years of age . I have been doing a slow keto for 1 year… Lost 50 pounds… And my A-1 C is at 5. 0. Because of the coronavirus - I am considered high risk, - my doctor has recommended I still stay on 1 Metformin pill as protection. I am feeling so much better in the joints. I can walk 10K easily! My gut is not on fire . and my personal heatwave has subsided. That alone is success and I will take it! I wish you success in your journey . you will reap the rewards in many ways!

Not me personally, but my brother in law did. He is mentally disabled but, has enough going for him to be able to live on his own and work as a grocery store stocker, anyway, he ignored everything until he had a heart attack in his thirties, had to have a new heart valve put in and was extremely overweight. That is how he was diagnosed. My husband, his brother, went and stayed with him while he recuperated and taught him how to eat keto with some very basic recipes and guidelines. He's been insulin free for years now. ❤

On keto for 2 months. just got my blood work and a1c went from 7. 8 to 6. 7. Kidney numbers are all in the green now and even my thyroid numbers are getting better. My ldl cholesterol has gone up though. I'm hoping that gets better for the next test. I'm not losing much weight only 4 pounds but I feel so much better.

Yep! Reversed Thankspe2 in a few months after keto! Diagnosed in 1998. No more insulin and other diabetes meds!

@brandish What were your eating habits. Did it include keto desserts?
by (370 points)
@sol6620 , I started keto March 2019. I eat 2 meals a day. Get those healthy fats in because fat makes you feel full. Have lost 40lbs so far. But you have to be careful not to eat too much protein because that raises your blood sugar, too. That’s my biggest struggle. Limit 3 oz of protein each meal is the ideal. Didn’t get into the keto sweets because keto diet took away cravings. And I figured why try to replace my sweet tooth, which was a serious weakness . I use Swerve in my 1 cup of coffee daily and may add a little in cooking acidic foods. I have taken a bite or slice of apple a few times. My snack is pork rinds. I admit I eat one 3oz bag a day. And I also eat nuts for a treat.
by (26.9k points)
@brandish snacks and treats are not keto, remember we are eating full meals and fasting in between .
