They go off quarterly reports from 2019. You will have to send In your paystubs showing you were working in 2020

@thermocouple they can see that via the contributions from the SS#

Go back further. Show your last employment - I feel like they check the past 18mo.

You have to be employed for 1 year (same place) in Illinois to get any unemployment benefits.

@ayer not true
by (1.9k points)
@ayer that doesn't say anything about having to be employed at the same establishment for a one year period. That's what I was referring to. Even if you're daughter was a brand new employee, she would still qualify for unemployment insurance under the newly expanded coverage. It seems like there may be a different reason she isn't qualifying for unemployment, or there was an error on the processing side.

@amanda christine the lady i talked to today told me if I havent worked in 2 or more quarters im denied. I thought the cares act would cover me. I started working in january of this year

If they are covering people who didnt even start their job yet how are they not covering me even if i was there over 2 months
by (1.9k points)
@pump16710 I don't know, I'm sorry. Technically you're supposed to be covered, barring any other disqualifiers. If it were me, I would appeal it. I know calling the office can be discouraging. I had an issue of my own that required me to speak with a representative. And it took me about a week before I could get on the phone with a physical person. I encourage you to try and appeal it. If it helps, when I made contact with a representative it was around 230pm on a Tuesday.

Anyone been able to get through to customer service there? They don’t even let the phone ring it just hangs up right away. Can’t talk to anyone

@larimore I called about 40 times within an hour and a half span there are two prompts u can get. There is one prompt that basically says to call again later and that to press one or two for some pre recorded messages. the one that you get through talks for about 3. 5 min and gives you multiple options press 2 then 2 then 5 then 6 to talk to a person. Once I got through to the correct prompt and not the pre recorded crap it took thirty min to talk to a human. keep trying u will get thru!

You have to be at a job for at least 6 months to receive unemployment for an employer.
by (420 points)
The company also has to approve the unemployment.

I believe there is a specific minimum dollar amount you have to make to get the unemployment. Years ago my husband started a job and he was on a 90 day probation period. They let him go on the 90 th day at no fault if his own and was able to get unemployment. They based it on the amount he earned in that timeframe to see if he qualified.

Employers file quarterly reports. First quarter reports are not due until 4/30. This is causing a problem for many. I don’t know what people can do to fix this problem. You can try calling your employer and asking if they filed the first quarter reports yet. I hope this problem can be fixed for you and so many others.

Payroll companies do this for companies. As an FYI, we got notified today that ours was completed today, so they should start being completed. We use a pretty large payroll company.

Not every company uses a payroll company. I process payroll, including filing all forms and paying all liabilities for my business. I do not use an outside service.
