I’ve been looking for things to entertain my just turned 6 and 3. 5 year old boys while we are at home due to COVID and have decided on a Step 2 sand box or sand table for our balcony since they both love sand. It’s a larger balcony so either will fit and still leave plenty of room for grilling and sitting, but the balcony is raised off the back of our upper level townhome so no brushing the kids off in the grass. We’d we have to go through the house to access/fill/empty it. Which would you get for a 6 year old and 3. 5 year old? Any 6 year olds still play with sand tables?

We have the sand box. The kids like sitting in it. So with your situation I would probably go with the table for less mess.

My 6 year old does still play with sand and water. We have 3 of the taller one you have pictured here. One for dirt, one for sand, and one for rocks.

If they want you to play with them I would recommend a table over the ones that sit on the ground. my back hurts from hunching over to the ground one. My 8 year old still plays in ours with my 2 year old. just make sure you get play sand so they can make castles etc without needing water .

We have that exact sand box and love it. My almost 5 year old and 3. 5 year old both fit inside at the same time with plenty of room to play. We put 5/6 bags of sand in it.

Standing one all the way! It has been used so much for long stretches of time, although our son is almost 4. Worth a shot though since kids will spend hours with this kind of thing.

My 8 and 9 year old still use it! It’s great to have even if they only use it once in a while. We have the one on legs.

We have the table and prop it up with cinder blocks so the kids can still play with it.

I have a table/ stand up sand box with a lid if you want it. Free. Just come pick it up. It had been played with a lot, but works great as for kids to play in it.

This is the one we have. I think the bridges are long gone as we put sand in both side. We have the lid.
