Suggestions needed.  My thumb nail is split super low.Suggestions needed. My thumb nail is split super low. No matter how shorter I file it or trim it, it continues to stay split. The whole nail is so short at the moment that it is sore. Does anyone have any suggestions, besides a band aid, that I can put on it, so the split will grow out?

I’ve seen people put a thin gauze over it and then apply nail polish. Maybe google video?

Separate a piece of toilet paper and cut a piece to cover the split and a little extra around the edges, coat with super glue or nail glue and gently buff. I'd keep nail strengthener on it too. I love this one. You can get it at Target.

It’s possible the nail bed is damaged and it may always be a weak spot. But super glue will help fill in the gap

I've used a tea bag like that toilet paper method posted up there ^^. I just adhere it with a bit of super glue and then polish over it to hold it in place.

This is what I did when I cut through the middle of my nail with a new sharp knife. Cut a tiny piece of a white coffee filter. Apply a thin coat of clear polish and while its still wet apply the piece of coffee filter to cover the crack. Let it dry and then add another coat of clear to it. You’ll have to touch it up now and then.

I've done that so many times I've lost count. Superglue works, but nail glue works better.
