Legos have started taking over our house and according to Google, a brilliant storage solution doesn't exist. What does everyone do to keep these little devil pieces contained?!

Ours are sorted by shape, and some by “kit” when they have odd pieces. My 7 year old puts them away in an organized fashion, my 4 year old requires some help on disassemble day!

Ann Calabrese yes. It’s obscene. Both kids have 3 drawer units each.

We use ziploc bags. Each Lego goes to its bag so if the child wants to play again with that specific one can be found. All the bags are inside a storage bin

Ours are organized by kit. zip lock bag + instructions + pieces. we don't blend. we don't do by colors/shapes and we certainly don't mix kits. it's when you mix kits, then that is when it's like what's the point. if you want a free play bin, so be it. but definitely don't mix a set/kit with the free play bucket.

@mauro169 That's what my daughter does & it works for the 8 year old the best. Last night she put a 6 ft table in her daughter's room & I got to see all the kits put together & had a facetime tour. Best 45 minutes ever!

So, just after Christmas and several new sets. I bought plastic containers and separated them by color family. It has been working really well for our 6 year old. He has one bin to put random pieces in and every so often they get sorted back into their color bin.

You can kind of see them in this picture, where our 4 year old was checking them out.

@beaton I have the same bins. I spent hours organizing them and it went to hell really quick  We still use the bins for storage they just aren’t organized anymore ‍♀️

So funny! My son loves them separated, so he has done a pretty good job keeping them that way.

I have given up. Current solution is they are only allowed in the basement.

We sorted them and they cannot find them so they end up on the floor anyway so the pull string bag as been the best so far!

@demetriusdemeyer agreed. We use this!

We received this as a gift. I researched how to sort the bricks (by type, not color) and we’ve been plugging away at them. So far, it seems to be working out.

My husband made this for my son’s room using ikea stuff. Pretty easy to build and we organized all the bins by color.

I back the by color approach, with specialty pieces like Wheels & Minifigs in a separate container. Honestly, I don't have enough time in my life to do it any other way.

Jen, oh, that reminds. I was going to send you a picture of the mini ATAT Jack made today.

We LOVE these. We have them in a variety of colors and sizes and we use them as a system for all of his toys and it looks really neat and they stack like legos. Just make sure to tape over the divits on the bottom inside as shown in reviews so little legos do not get stuck.

We have very very strict LEGO rules. Legos are in a closed container under the bed (one of those huge twin bed size nearly lol) their room has to be 100% clean before they use them and they have to clean them 100% before moving on to anything else. They were their dads legos so they need permission to use them every single time.
