Ladies that painted the fire place trim black need help! I have the spray paint . Did you unscrew the frame And take it out How did you do it !? I can’t find the post to ask the person directly

Did you get the heat resistant paint? Friends have taped and papered theirs off and sprayed carefully.

@michaeline24 I agree with what you said as well as lightly sand the areas you plan to spray paint so it adheres. Paper and tape around and well ventilated. Spray in layers and allow to dry completely. Heat resistant is a must!

@michaeline24 didn’t know about the sanding glad I checked back . Someone said spray the paint out of the can and use a brush to paint it . I have paint sponges and tested the inner trim The spray does spray far so I’m scared it will ruin the brick! I think I need patience. I need to tape it off And slowly spray

@michaeline24 the spong isn’t giving me good results and the spray paint being sprayed out of the can use drying faster than I can apply

Definitely heat resistant spray and tape well. Most importantly, cover everything with a tarp in front of the fireplace. I did this a few years ago and the carpet got a thin layer of black paint! I could tell because there was a color difference under the tarp. Otherwise, it holds up well, but we don’t use the fireplace. I was definitely happy with the look and it was super easy. Good luck!
