Our window well has a crack in it and is letting water through. Our drain can’t keep up and water was seeping in through the window last night. U. S. Waterproofing can’t come out until the end of next month, and want us to cut a foot of dry wall around our finished basement to check the foundation - even though we know it’s pouring in from the window. The entire window well was full of water last night and my hubby was talking water out with buckets. Does anyone have any recommendations on who to call? We have a lot of rain still left this spring and hoping to have something done ASAP. Realize a lot of people are having water issues right now, but figured I’d at least ask? Thanks!

Go get a pump thats electric and put it in the window well until you get service

@beckybecloud5500 thanks for the idea! Heading out now to get one.

@ahders, careful you get all the parts you need! I also suggest a sump pump in there. Two of our windows filled last night. One we have a pump in that we have to plug in every 10 minutes. That gets old. But a small sump pump- and you can sleep easy.

@beckybecloud5500 the pump that we got is automatic once it senses water so will have to watch and make sure it turns on. Hubby got the wrong hose size though so will have to go tomorrow morning to return. Hope it’s not too bad tonight.

I feel awful for you guys! Watching Nick scoop buckets of water out of the window well and us not being able to do anything to help.

@burlie373 his back is wrecked! I had to furiously drive to Home Depot for some supplies while he was doing that - almost all of the roads were flooded. It was a mess last night . Also my Instacart order arrived right when we noticed the water so that sat out on the porch for a good half hour.

Do you have a cover over the window well? If not you should get one before the next rain. Menards has them. Some are less than $10.

@midtown10 yes we do. The metal part of the well actually has a hole a few inches down and rain water was pouring in from the soil being so saturated.

@nord5 You may be able to get a rubber or plastic plug for the hole to temporarily stop water from going into the window well until you get a permanent fix.

We used cement works when we bought our home and they were great. We’d highly recommend them. They added drain tiles in our foundation and repoured. Our water was coming in the foundation where the wall meets the ground. Great people!

@isoniazid8549 we def need drain tile too. Thanks!

We’ve been happy with Crack Attack. They came out the same day when we had that exact issue happen a couple years back!

This happened to us last year and it was because we had a drain in ours that was full of leaves. We had to take the little cover off and completely clean it out and it’s been fine ever since. We just keep an eye out.

This happened to my neighbor across the street. Same model home. I will see what he is doing. PM me and I can also get you in contact info. I saw a window replacement company there and a trench was dug from the window to the front yard.

@gran7 oh that’s interesting. Sounds like what we need! Will send you a PM. Thanks!

Flex tape/spray rocks. Saved us 2 years on a leaky window,
by (1.2k points)
@koren8664 we bought the flex tape and spray but the previous homeowners used caulk (we just notified) and the flex tape won’t stick to it. The spray doesn’t seem to be working well. May try the flex tape on the actual window inside though.

@nord5 we did the outside of the window, tape then spray . I just got a tube of the gel at Lowe’s last week. Haven’t played with it yet!

@koren8664 will have to try that!
