Where does your sump pump drain - is it adding to the water in that area? If that's okay, French drain or mulch out the area and plant a few river birches- they love the wet area. Adds privacy too

If it's wet, you have one of the few areas where a River Birch shines! Everyone uses them for landscaping but they need a swampy area to really do well and not stress out, it sounds like you have the perfect spot!

Our yard is the same way. We added the French drain all along our entire perimeter to catch our neighbors water and feed it directly into the drain cap which is in our yard. Unfortunately it hasn’t helped very much. Our yard is always wet simple because everyone else’s water drains into ours. Our sump pump runs constantly and we have flooded twice in the last 9 years. Be careful with a river birch because if they hold too much water they snap and break. had this happen to the tune of $1000 just last spring.

Ours is the same too. we tried to raise it and failed 2 bigs dogs and a huge silver maple with roots that are ridiculous and poor drainage. I want to put a galvanized trough back there with a garden♀️
