Any tips/advice on financing a car? Husband and I have bought our used cars cash so I don’t really know how financing works. I’ve read in other posts people recommend getting a loan from a credit union. How do credit unions work? Or is it better to finance through dealer? It’ll be for a new vehicle. Anyone know current rates? Thank you in advance.

Shouldnt matter what you do it through just look for the best rate. I'd shop around and see what you can get then when you get to the dealer and they offer you their financing you'll know if the rate is good or not. Easiest to go through dealer.

I don’t know the current rates but we’ve done both through dealer and a credit union. We picked based on the rate. Same experience as far as maintenance of the account.

The APR’s will completely depend on your credit but typically if you have a credit union they will give you a much better deal than the dealership

@reichenberg85 right now a ton of dealers are offering 0% or close to it because the auto industry took a big hit due to Covid. I’d absolutely call a few different dealerships/check online

Shop around. Do your homework and know the market as best as you can. I can’t stand buying a car. The whole process is a scam in my opinion. Check out cars. com. You can search online inventory and compare prices. Good luck. I shopped for 3 months before I finally bought.
