Best vacuum for dog hair and hardwood floors? Extreme bonus points if it is easy/great for vacuuming furniture. I'm losing my mind with all the dog hair in my house and I have a newborn so now it's making me EXTRA crazy. I'm looking into Sharks and Dysons. Please tell me your favorite and what model. I've read through all the posts I can find so far but I need more!

I got the Dyson V8 stick vacuum from Costco online for this exact reason. It is so easy and light. I keep it plugged in the corner of my family room because I literally grab it every day to vacuum something (2 big dogs here).

It looks like they have a V10 and V11 now too!

@omnipotence411 I have the same vacuum & also love it. especially like the way it goes from carpet to flooring. works well with my wooden blinds too.

I do my entire house and I even pull it up to the couch and vacuum dog hair off that too!

Shark lift away is the best vacuum I have ever used! I have 4 kids and a husky!

@crimson do you also use this for vacuuming furniture? If so how does it do?

@freeland oh yes! It does great! Has an easy detachment from the handle and the pieces you need, it does a fantastic job!

We had a Dyson animal for many years, I had it serviced once. It was a really good vacuum but it needed service again. It was at least 10 years old. So we went and got a new shark performance lift away at Costco. They're on sale right now. It was about $80 cheaper than the Dyson. We've used it a couple of times and it's fantastic on our carpet and the upholstery attachment work super good on our couch that's covered in pet hair. Really strong suction and did a really efficient job on the couch. I've been wanting a cordless stick, but I'm a little concerned about the fact that the canister is super small and we have like two thousand square feet of carpet. Plus that cost a ton. I will say that the shark we got is quite a bit lighter in weight than the Dyson animal. Which was kind of nice.

@rhys5 I know the cordless stick vacuums are so pricey! I want to make sure I know what I'm doing before I spend that kind of money!

@freeland might be worth it? Hah! Report back!

The UpScale Tail Pet Grooming Salon in Naperville offers a wonderful add-on DeShed Treatment to help reduce shedding by removing the dead undercoat. 630-632-TAIL. @mutt

@stallings thanks. And for my 2 cents here, I just bought the Dyson Animal Cordless 10v. I like this version bc it has the fluffy brush attachment that some of the newest models do not have which is better for our delicate floors at home. In fact, I love this one so much I am considering replacing the current lobby vacuum at the grooming salon with one of these. Theupscaletail. com Years ago I had a standup corded Dyson animal that I loved and regretted every minute of trading it in for the Kirby that my ex wanted so bad. My sister is just replacing her’s with the cordless too, and she and I got our Animals in 2003/4-ish?

Eufy Robovac 11 has changed my life  Seriously - as far as getting rid of the dog hair tumbleweeds daily. It's on a timer and vacuums my floor once a day. I love it!

I do NOT like my Dyson Animal. Heavy. Hair gets tangled up in roller brush. I’m currently dealing with broken parts. Overall “EH! ”

@prophetic I liked it and it seemed very well engineered. My hose gave out and we decided to replace it after many years. The shark is way lighter, which is actually pretty nice. I never realized how heavy the Dyson was. :)

@hardin is this true? Oh why didn’t I know this

@hardin I have gates all over my house and it's my understanding that is a deal breaker for automatic vacuums?

I have had the big dyson, the small cordless dyson V8 and a shark. I liked the shark the most. Second the dyson V8. Did not think the big dyson was worth the weight and price.
by (2.6k points)
@negus which shark do you have?
by (410 points)
@freeland rocket deluxe pro. It is good for pets. The dyson doesn’t even compare to the amount of dust the shark picks up from floors and carpets and rugs.

Shark Apex duo

Yes, this one! Have been a Dyson loyalist for about 15 years, but just bought a Shark Apex (AZ1002) and it’s so much better than both of the Dysons I have. I love the powered lift-away feature, which basically turns this into a canister vac perfect for stairs and furniture. You know you’re old when a new vacuum brings this much excitement. ‍♀️

You need a roomba. You can't possibly do everything all of the time. Mine runs on a schedule and my floors are always clean.
