Happy Sunday Moments.  The sun was brilliant today, lighting the path for our midday walk.Happy Sunday Moments. The sun was brilliant today, lighting the path for our midday walk. Jason started our raised bed garden that we have been talking about for 3 years. We cleaned the house and the backyard and that feels pretty awesome. #RubytheCat enjoyed some outdoor time. Dinner was a delicious combination of BBQ pork chops on the grill, corn, asparagus and some good ol’ stove top stuffing for a bit of yummy, naughty carbs. We just lit a fire and are going to find a movie. Bonus points: I showered, blew dry my hair AND put a little makeup on.  How about you? What made your Sunday good? And, who has a few good gardening tips? What grows well for you and why?

We grow tomatoes, cucumbers, beans and peas here easily! Along with herbs swisschard and potatoes if you have the rights conditions for potatoes!
by (5.4k points)
@imperceptive sounds amazing! What are the right conditions for potatoes?
by (200 points)
@thirteenth2 add sand to soil. it needs looser soil since the veggie grows under ground
by (430 points)
@thirteenth2 we buy “potato” bags from Wannemakers. Like @ventriloquism said you need looser soil so we mix in sand or straw. You plant the potatoes at the bottom of the bag, as the foliage grows you cover the stems to a few inches from their tops, this causes the plant to grow more and more potatoes as they grow. They are pretty simple with the bags and the right soil. 3-4 seed potatoes can yield like 30 potatoes!

We just started working on our raised garden too! We have a few bunnies that come in and out of our yard (which I love, so cute! ), trying to figure out a fence solution to keep them from eating our hard work.  Excited to read through the gardening tips!
by (5.4k points)
@waddell we are going to do some sort of fencing. Not sure how but we will figure it out!

Looks like a great day! Took a walk, sewed, played some VR and played with the dogs. Miss seeing your face! Gardening - what do you want to grow? Flowers or food?

That’s awesome. Can we get a total separate page dedicated to gardening tips lol I have always always wanted to do this and now I have the time. Would love tips and how to’s. ❤️

@calley we have a cooking group that never got much traction, maybe I could take it out of retirement and turn it into a cooking, gardening and DIY project tips group!

@thirteenth2 do it lol bring it back. I’ve been following a local gal for meal ideas and making her meals daily and she’s been giving me inspiration. I would love to do what you’re doing though with the garden I just am clueless unfortunately.

Mix your soil with mushroom compost and earthworm castings. Leave plenty of space between plants. For tomatoes, I did the hole a bit extra deep, pour about 1/4 cup epson salts in, cover with a bit of dirt then put in 1/4 cup or more of crushed egg shells. This helps prevent blossom or tomato rot
