As a mom of adults and sister of a doctor, I’ll share my wisdom. NEVER, EVER take the receptionist’s (or even nurse’s - if different than you’ve discussed previously with your doctor) opinion as fact. They are gatekeepers. You must be your child’s advocate. You must question (as you are) things that don’t make sense. I currently see a doctor in my brother’s practice; she’s awesome. However, the runarounds and/or misinformation I have received from support staff (rampant everywhere sadly) over the years always gets reported back to brother and my doctor, so these situations don’t happen to others! I can’t stand any level of stupidity. Lol If I were in your position, I would insist upon a call back from the doctor to discuss your child’s needs - no one else. If the office is set up for a video appt, that may be a good alternative, too. Best wishes!
