My daughter is officially potty trained (something good actually came out of this quarantine ) and I’m looking for some tips/advice because she’s my oldest and this is all new for me. We’re still putting overnight diapers on her at night just in case, but she hasn’t been wetting at night so I’m wondering what the next step of transition is for that? Underwear & a bed pad? Just underwear and pray? Also, how do you approach riding in the car for the first time without pull-ups? I’d rather not have to repeatedly clean pee out of her car seat & while on the topic, any recommendations for some good, comfy toddler underwear that aren’t stupid expensive? Thanks!

For the bed, I layered. mattress pad, sheet, towel, mattress pad, sheet. This way, if there's an accident, take the top layer off and you have a made bed already rather than changing everything in the middle of the night.

Put a potty in the trunk for a few months just Incase. if you have to pull over you just do until she figures out how to hold it for a bit of time

At night you could use the pull up if you think there will be an issue, otherwise just heavier underwear and bedpan. I had five ready for rotation. As for driving, definitely keep her in underwater all day (nap too if you can, otherwise heavy underwater and many bed pads). I had several car seat pads (the observance if a bed pad). It was that generic brand that toys r us used to carry. And defiantly being a potty chair. but also I used to have my son sit on the potty at home to be used to going potty out in public. With kid number two I carried a potty seat topper (in a bag) to pit on public toilet seats.

My daughter was in pull ups at bedtime and naptime for a year after being fully trained during the day. I just didn’t care - had no interest in changing sheets in the middle of the night. After about a year she started waking up dry on her own. After a week or two of waking up dry we switched to underwear at naps and bedtime.

same thing with us now; our daughter is trained for a long time now but I haven't tried to transition to no diaper over night; not sure how to go about it because on her own she almost always pees while sleeping in the diaper. (perhaps she thinks this is what she's just supposed to do? ). She'll be 4 soon and I've been telling her that's it, no more diapers at this age.

I honestly bought a package of puppy pads. so easy to throw away if they get wet. They are so thin for the car seat also!

After 14 nights of being dry then we go straight to under wear. But if I’m night 13 you pee in your diaper we start back at day one. I’ve potty trained 4. In the car. Have her go potty before you leave. Then I carry a baby potty in the car with with and toilet paper and I have her try before we go into a store. As I’m more confident she’s not going to have an accident then I might not have her try before we go in.

We do pull-ups at night. Night potty training can take several years.

Do whatever you feel comfortable with! My daughter did great with not having accidents at night. It only happened once and we just cleaned her up and the bed. If accidents happen then try another way. Trial and error! Congratulations

We have a small potty chair in our car, try to go before leaving, and a seat pad for our car seat. However please read car seat manual or do research on what is allowed. Most car seat don’t approve of anything in between child and seat. I have Britax and the make a seat protector for their cars seats. For bed - I have the multiple layers but have been lucky and he’s stayed dry

I got the piddle pad for the car seat, good night bed pads, pull ups, extra potty seat, extra clothes. all of it and didn’t need any of it really lol. Had to change clothes once while at a store and bed sheets once (both my fault). I will say I found the disposable seat covers off amazon really helpful. They are large and cover the sides of the seat so their hands don’t touch it. Best thing you can do is just plan your trip. Make sure to go potty before you leave and plan to go potty when you get to your destination. At least in the beginning.

I wouldn’t spring for the expensive underwear unless your kid raises an issue with regular undies. We just bought the regular character ones at Walmart and my daughter is fine with them ♀️ If your kid has sensory problems or complains about them though that’s a different story.

Cold turkey! I was afraid to do so and when we went to my moms that summer she was like did you try her in just underwear overnight and I hadn’t. so we did at her place and there was no looking back. My daughter was super easy to train bc she didn’t like diapers and was day time trained at 15mos and nighttime at 19mos (my boy is a completely different story). With car rides take short ones in the beginning make sure you ask often if they need to go potty. be prepared for stops just to check out public bathrooms bc that’s what kids do. Good luck! It will all work out! And congrats! It’s a whole new world without diapers/pull ups!

At night we did pull ups for few nights, then the pad under the sheets. In the car-I had potty and also kept pull up or diaper stashed just in case. Also, always keep change of clothes in the car :)

Congrats! those diapers cost a ton. If not wetting at night, regular undies and mattress pad. That's what we did, and our daughter hated a wet bed so she stopped wetting at night. Portable Potty in the car for trips. Keep multiple change of clothes and undies in car

We have a soft mattress pad that has a waterproof layer in it. I'd say its time for undies.

I just found out today my insurance company is dropping me because of all my 17 years of driving, I had 2 bad accidents which both happened in the past year (neither my fault - the other drivers were cited at the scene, one was found at fault in court, and insurance both times said not my fault too)...
