Question

I am a DCFS frontline staff with autoimmune disease. Does anyone have an N95 mask I can purchase or know where I can get one before Monday?

DCFS, a state agency, isn't providing it's front line staff with PPE? I'm sorry, but that doesn't seem plausible. I am a police officer in a small town in McHenry County, and we have all the PPE we need. Last week, I went on an investigation with a DCFS investigator out of the Woodstock office, and she was well-situated with PPE. What gives?

@hornback I am from Deerfield office. My understanding is we get the paper masks three per week and gloves. I have been out on FMLA and returning on Monday. I have my own box of gloves and Hand sanitizer. I have paper masks but I am not satisfied and do not feel well protected. As a police officer you know that we are required to go into the hospital and go to peoples homes and I just want to make sure I have the coverage needed. My daughter is an RN and has advised me to get an N95 and that’s what I’m searching for

@hornback correcto mundo. I feel DCFS investigators need to be recognized as first responders and treated in the same manner as first responders. We put our life on the line everyday and pray we make it home safe every night in normal circumstances and now are met with this challenge and how to keep ourselves safe.

@hornback so I checked with Lake County investigator and they received 1 N95. I checked with a couple people from my office and there was a variety N95 and paper like at hospitals handed out and those receiving 3 of the N95 was told to make them last.

@hornback someone donated 2 of the N95 masks to me. My daughter who is an RN sent me videos to show me how to take them on and off without touching the masks.

@pascoe I am hoping to get one from work, but one will not be enough. Someone donated two to me, so I am okay for now. At least when I leave for work on Monday, I will have one. I was on FMLA, but have to return to work now. Not sure there are any left.

@anchorage make sure you have the right size for yourself. Seeing men with beards and N95’s or small faced people with large N95 masks defeats the purpose of having one at all.

@upsetting there is not a size on package and I don’t have a beard so hopefully all will be well.

KN95 does pretty much the same thing as N95. Use kN if you have to. Try the pharmacy on Golf by Holy Family hospital in the clinic area .
