People doing these birthday parades with children standing up in the sunroofs while cars are moving. Do you know this is illegal for your children to not be belted in the seats and you are putting your children at risk if there is an accident? You could end up with an open DCFS case if there is an accident.

Are we at that bad of a point where people are going to complain about a kid yelling happy birthday out the sunroof to their friend going half a mile an hour. You’re more likely to be injured with carpel tunnel syndrome typing out these dumb complaints when people are just trying to have some fun. Lighten up Karen!

@ko36 standing up in the car sunroof while the car is in motion is against the law and someone could call the hotline for child abuse and neglect. If an officer issues a ticket for such they are mandated reporters.

Does the k in your name stand for karen?

@flood actually no. I am an investigator and do not want to have to knock at your door about ridiculous investigations that have truth to them.

@anchorage just a guess ‍♀️

THANK YOU for saying something. I question this myself every time I see a car parade happening. I understand the meaning and thought behind it but did we forget it’s illegal and dangerous? Just because there’s a pandemic doesn’t mean everything else goes out the window (literally).

People can still have parades put signs on your cars, roll your windows down, fasten your children in their seats and go. It is a safety issue.

That’s why I bought a car without a sunroof!

If I remember correctly, I survived the no seat belt of the 70s

You survived but how many didn't?

@omari391 you would be the same person crying if your child got hurt.

@omari391 parents used to beat their children also. However it does not make it right.

@omari391 while our parents smoked cigarettes in the front seat with windows shut!

Good to see that DCFS is wasting tax payer dollars worrying about kids standing in a car going less than a mile an hour. But then they let reported child abusers keep there kids.

@ballocks you do not have a clue what you are talking about. Hey why don’t you apply for the position since you know do much.

@anchorage seems more like you don’t like hearing hard truths

@ballocks no problem if it is the truth but you have no clue what you are talking about. Ignorance is not bliss.

@anchorage actually I do. I have seen how DCFS lets that happen. Look at what happened with that kid In Crystal lake that was abused and his parents were reported multiple times. Again glad to see my tax dollars being put to good use with your concerns over kids in cars going less than a mile an hour. Is DCFS investigation guide high school parades when students are standing in floats or in cars?
by (2k points)
@ballocks yes and the route is blocked off to thru traffic to reduce chances of accidents. However being on a busy road where cars are know to be doing 50 miles per hour in the middle of the day does present danger. Wait till your car is rear ended snd your child is hurt.

Have you ever been to a parade? Ever see kids literally on a parade float or in the back of a truck for a parade? Most parades around here are cancelled this year but next summer try and go to one and see how many people you bust

I have been through a few car parades in these last couple of months and they were all on residential side streets with cars 2-5mph. How many have you participated in?
