(Sorry for another kindergarten post. I’ve checked the website and searched this group and can’t find the info. ) When do we find out if our child will be in a morning or an afternoon kindergarten class? If we don’t find out until later, what is the best way to coordinate so a younger sibling’s preschool class is at the same time as the older child’s kindergarten class? We haven’t decided on preschool yet, but I’m guessing I’d have to reserve a spot for a particular class time. Thank you! :)

It’s actually done by walkers/bus. We are busses and we’re AM for my 2nd and 3rd graders

It’s usually decided on by subdivision or at least it was when my kids went.

There usually isn’t much notification before the week before school starts. You will be notified the week before what teacher you get and if it’s am or pm. Thankspically your subdivision would generally be the same each year but that’s not guaranteed. Before my kids went into kindergarten our subdivision had △⃒⃘lways been morning since we were walkers but census changed and we ended up afternoon and have been afternoon for the last several years. I will say at our school kids who are bused have always been afternoon, but it really depends on the school. It sucks but you can’t really plan and only guess.

^^^Yes this. It’s literally 1-2 weeks (max) before the school year. Usually it’s the same (as what your neighborhood has been in the past but I expected my daughter to be in AM (had been that way for 10+ years and they changed it her year for PM). If it is very important to you, most principals will take AM or PM requests. (But your request negates bus. so, if your neighborhood is PM but you wanted him to take the bus but you requested AM, you’d have to drive) Hope that makes sense!

@bathe555 We will be walkers. But I would like him to be with the other neighborhood kids.

For both my girls I assumed it was the same as years past but my younger one was switched to morning two days before school started (way back 13 years ago) - but that was so she could have the teacher her sister had had cause we loved her so much.
